General Info
5th Annual Make-A-Wish Foundation Kickball Tournament
HISTORY: The Make-A-Wish Kickball Tournament was started in the fall of 2005 by the Young Professionals Advisory Council, a volunteer board of local Denver professionals under the age of 35 whose mission was to create a renewed awareness and support for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado. What started as a modest event with 14 teams and just over 200 players at a local park has quickly grown into the largest event of its kind, with 57 teams and more than 900 participants taking part in 2008! In its short life, the Make-A-Wish kickball tournament has helped generate more than $50,000 to help grant the wishes of Colorado children who suffer from life threatening illnesses, and we expect to nearly double that total this year! 2009 TOURNAMENT: This year's tournament will be hosted on Saturday, September 26 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO, the new stadium complex home of Major League Soccer's Colorado Rapids. This year's tournament will boast 14 fields of simultaneous kickball action, with an estimated 70 teams and 1,300 participants, which would make this the largest one day kickball tournament in the state of Colorado. REGISTRATION: Team registration for this event is NOW OPEN, and will run through Friday, September 5. Basic team registration is just $300 per team of up to 15 players, and includes t-shirts for all team members, free lunch for all team members, a minimum of two kickball games, and free beer at our post event party. There are also several sponsorship level registration options available, and each includes a complimentary team entry. SPACE IS LIMITED, so early registration is encouraged! PLEDGING FOR 2009: Teams are encouraged to compete in our team pledge raising competition! By registering your team through our online system, each player on your team is able to raise online pledges to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado! Players are able to create individual pledge raising websites, invite family, friends and co-workers to contribute and track their pledge raising progress! Teams may also create team pledge pages, which allows each team to track their pledge raising progress as a group! There are also several pledge raising tools that are made available through this site, including pre-drafted emails which you can send to family and acquaintances, fundraising "ideas", and "thermometers" to see how close you are to reaching your individual and team goals! The GRAND PRIZE for the overall top pledge raising team is a group night to either a Colorado Avalanche game or a Denver Nuggets game for your ENTIRE TEAM! (Courtesy of Kroenke Sports Enterprises). ITINERARIES & GAME DAY INFO: Full event information will be sent by e-mail to ALL tournament captains and sponsors in the weeks and days leading up to the event, including check in information, facility details, parking information, game schedules, etc. All inquiries relating to the game day logistics prior to the receipt of this information may be directed towards Nate Baldwin at nate@wasasports.com.
